FEBRUARY/MARCH HAPPENINGS AT BLUE IRIS QUILT SHOP

February 4, 2016

Well here we are in February, an in between time of Winter and Spring!

I was surprised that my Iris's are in bloom already..I can almost see them stretching and yawning and stretching some more.....it makes me think that Spring will be here sooner than later.  I must say that while our much needed rain was nice, I am READY for spring and some much needed sunshine!

This is the time of year I make my way down south for a much needed visit with family and friends and I am hoping that the weather is indeed sunny for my drive!

But enough of me...I really would like to thank all of our great customers who supported our Pantie Raid this year.  One Safe Place was delighted to receive all of the donations from you.  They were equally excited that everything was new..which I'm guessing doesn't happen too often with clothing items.  We figured that all of you together gave about $500 worth of underware, bras, and pajamas in many different sizes.  It is definitely a good cause as many of the people who show up at One Safe Place arrive with only what they are wearing on their back.  Thanks again to all of you who supported this wonderful cause!

This month we are already receiving some of our new fabrics.  Yesterday we received a shipment of about 20 bolts of Batiks (I know that's a surpise!)  from Island Batiks and Robert Kaufman.  Some beautiful colors and patterns and several great light batiks as well.

We are expecting deliveries soon from Moda (more Grunge), Northcott (Burlap Blenders), Kaffe from Westminster Fibers, and a little later in the month, we are getting in 50 Bolts of Stonehenge from Northcott and of course we still have more Batiks coming in......just can't have too many!

We began our Quilter's Academy Freshman Year this week.  It is a six week class taught by Margie McGraw.  We've had a great response to these classes and they are not just for beginners.

We still have a few openings in our Super Sunday Sew-in, 2/7, if you are so inclined to come.  All we ask is that you call and put your name on the list and bring your favorite appetizer or dish to share.  Sewing hours are from 9am to 3pm.  Remember to sign up as space is limited.  The shop will not be open to the public that day.
