April Newsletter

Wow!  April 1st has arrived and here I am, Jeri Daniel, the new owner of Blue Iris Quilt Shop!  I have had the opportunity to meet many of you who came to the “Meet Jeri” reception hosted by Lynette and I am honored that so many of you took time out of your day to come in and meet me.

When I first considered buying Blue Iris, I looked up the meaning of the flower.  I found that the Iris has several meanings….Faith, Hope, Wisdom, Courage, Admiration and Cherished Friendship.

I moved to this area last September from Southern California and buying a quilt shop was not part of my plan.  My relocation was a bold move for me as I have lived in Southern California for most of my life and all of my family still resides there.  I had a long career in Human Resources and for the past six years I worked for a Sew and Vac dealer in Apple Valley.  I was first introduced to sewing during my Junior and Senior high school years where my primary focus was on clothing. I quilted on and off during my working years but I became more involved in quilting and machine embroidery over the past 15 years or so.  There is something very therapeutic when working with fabric and yes I am a fabriholic!   But I am straying a bit…I wanted to talk a little about the meaning of the flower.

Courage – it took a lot of courage for me to make the move to the Redding area and even more to embark on a journey that would land me as the owner of Blue Iris Quilt Shop.  Faith – I’m stepping out with faith that God won’t let me fail in this venture.  Hope – I am full of hope that I can continue serving all of you in the manner that you are accustomed to at Blue Iris.  Admiration and Cherished Friendship – That pretty much sums up what a Quilt Shop should be….a place to gather,  to admire the beautiful works of art and creativity that each and every one of you produce and a place where friendships are made, nourished and cherished by all.

I fell in love with Blue Iris the very first time I walked through the door and this is just the beginning of our journey together.  I feel blessed that we have a very talented group of ladies working at Blue Iris and we will all work hard to make your experience here a special one.

Here are some of the classes and events that we have coming up in the future.  You can find more specifics on the website www.blueirisquiltshop.com  or  you can always call the shop at (530) 547-2228.
