June 1, 2015
Summer has hit the North State and I'm loving it! The garden is producing and we've already started picking the cucumbers and green and yellow squash! Other pickings are not far behind and oh, did I mention that I have a zillion (yes a zillion) Poppies that are beginning to bloom on the parkway in front of my house.......so so pretty!
Like the garden, Blue Iris is continuing to produce new quilts and classes! We've had some amazing new lines come in, Friends in Wild Places by Clothworks, the complete line of Catalina by Maywood Studios, and of course, new Batiks, so you may need to stop by and see them in person! Our Kaffe fabrics should begin coming in this month and we are excited about that!
We have a lot of Events and Classes coming up that I think you will find interesting and exciting! So take note and mark these down in your calendars!
The 1st event that starts on June 21st and runs through Sept. 8th, 2015 is the Row by Row Shop Hop...no passports required! Since June 21st is a Sunday and we are not open, our Patterns, Kits and License Plates will be available on Monday June 22nd. Pattern only will be free, our Kits which include our Pattern, Fabric and License Plate will be available to purchase at $15.99. License Plates only will be available to purchase for $5.00. Last year was a blast and we met so many new friends from all over the United States. This year there will be a lot more shops participating and we are sure this year's Row by Row Shop Hop will be even better! This year we will have a Guest Book for all Row by Row participants to sign so we can remember everyone from every corner of the States and Canada that drop by. We will also have a photo station where you can have your picture taken, or you can do a selfie, whichever you prefer, with our Row by Row Mascot - Bobbin the Robbin! How fun is that? Remember the 1st person to get 8 different rows from 8 different participating Quilt Shops and gets it put together (quilted, bound and label) and is the 1st person to get it turned in to a participating shop will win 25 Fat Quarters!!! If you happen to be the 1st person at our shop and our row is in your quilt, you will also get a $25.00 Gift Certificate! Our row, which is aptly titled "Rails on the River", designed by Natalie Larson, will be on display in the shop beginning on June 1st..........you can drool...but you cannot purchase it until JUNE 22nd! WhooHoo!
The next Event that you need to know about is the North State Quilt Jamboree that is being sponsored by Blue Iris, StitchbyStitch and The Sewing Room. This is bound to be a fun event for all. There will be lots of classes, vendors, lectures, and demos for 2 whole days! This event is a 1st Annual event and we are looking forward to many more! With this event, we will be bringing vendors, teachers and lecturers to you so that you don't have to travel hundreds of miles to attend one of the big shows. While our event may not be as big as some of the other events held throughout the state, we suspect that someday it will be. All of the shops now have the registration forms available for you to sign up for the classes and lectures that are being held. If you wish to get the forms on line, you can go to www.stitchbystitchclasses.com and download the forms, or stop by any one of the three shops. Blue Iris has some of the class projects on display in the classroom if you would like to see what they are. Soooooooooooooooo.....mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, July 17th and 18th, and get signed up for classes and lectures, which are are on a 1st come 1st served basis. Admission fee is $5.00 and includes both days and if you have paid for a class(es) and have received confirmation that you are in the class(es) the admission fee is waived.
This is a very exciting venture and we hope to see many, many Quilters from far and wide at this event! Come join us ..............won't you?!!
North State River Run, Sept. 9th thru Sept. 12th, 9am to 7pm. There will be 13 shops participating again this year. All shops will be having a theme and a prize will be given at each store for the person who best depicts the theme of that shop. Blue Iris has chosen our theme: "Quilt Hunters"..............good luck on that one! LOL! Whatever it turns out to be, you can bet we will have fun with it! Every shop will give 1 winner per store a One Hundred Dollar Gift Certificate and the Grand Prize will be a Bernina 350 PE (Patchwork edition)............Lots of prizes to win, Lots of fun to be had...............be sure to block out time on your calendar for this one!
